OUR VALUES
WHAT DO WE BELIEVE IN?
There have been large scale efforts to elevate global surgery as a public health agenda item. These efforts tend to center on increasing access to surgery rather than truly focusing on quality improvement in the realms of SSI prevention. While laudable, increasing access is a long-term project requiring major resources. As such, WSIS believes in:
Projects on improving the quality of surgical procedures through evidence-based and field-tested measures that can help to bridge the gap in safe surgery and IP, working from the ground-up, empowering ‘local champions’ to be the drivers in the development of programming that will remain sustainable once any defined projects have ceased.
WSIS is, first and foremost, an active group of surgeons, IPC professionals, and other healthcare workers who are building practical, sustainable strategies to reduce surgical infections. As such, WSIS believes in:
Engaging with and supporting local partners to help target their challenges and gaps and create the solutions that are unique to each region.
We are THE society working to actively bridge the gaps between safe surgery and IPC programs on a global scale, with a focus on surgical infection reduction and safety where the need is greatest. As such, WSIS believes in:
Centering on diversity and a collaborative spirit, with a core value of everyone involved in a project being guaranteed ownership of their work and a chance to voice their opinions.
